Shiofune-Canon Temple (05 March 2005)

Sony, Canon, Bridgestone... they are not US nor European companies, but Japanese
companies.  Actually, Canon is a Japanese word.  Preciously Canon is pronounced "kan-non",
and it is slightly different from what we pronounce usually.  But, Canon was in fact named after
"Kan-non", one of the Buddhism saints-- the Goddess of Mercy.  Photographers might as well
thank this saint.
Shiofune-Canon Temple is located about 30km away from centre of Tokyo and has about
1,300-year history.  The garden of this temple is very famous for azaleas-- we sought early
spring in this quiet temple, but it was just after March snowing...
Just after spring snowing... it was quiet but
cold.  A small Buddhism building was
standing up over the stone steps with some
snow remaining.
When this big bell is rung, we would be able to go beyond
the worldly desires...  Blue characters are perhaps
Buddhism style font-- quite difficult to read.  They might
express Buddha's teachings.
Small snowman on the bench.  Local kids must have
made it.   In Japan, a snowman is called
Yuki-Daruma.  Yuki means snow, Daruma  means an
ancient Buhhdism saint...
