Everywhere in Japan, 2005

As many people mention, it is true that Japan is a developed country.  As many people mention,
it is true that Japanese have developed the country at the cost of natural environment.  But, it is
also true that Japanese people have been loving beautiful flowers that give people peace.
Whenever I find blooming flowers, or even artificially arranged, I feel proud of people's loving of
peace.
The flower season starts in late January, when it is still cold.  But, plums let us know that
spring is coming closer.  In Japan, New Year's Day is called "The New Spring."  Of course, it is
still mid winter in the early January.  However, according to the lunar calender, it is the start of
spring, and plum blossom adds pink and red colors to the celebration at the end of winter.
In the early spring, some flowers are not
able to wait for the true spring.  They are
not gorgeous, but they add colors to the
town.
I don't know exactly what they are
called, but I think some kinds of
quince...
Japanese yellow rose.  I
personally like yellow
flowers.
Some kinds of
wood sorrels, I
think.
Then the season of cherry blossom comes!!!  Although the blossom lasts only a
week, the entire town is covered by white-pink carpet-- it is late March or early April.
In Japan, schools, corporate fiscal year etc start from April-- with cherry blossom.
Double Cherry (Yae-Zakura)
blossom follow the ordinary
cherry (Somei-Yoshino).
Azalea blooms at the same time
as double-cherry.  Azalea is so
common in the town that people
often don't realise, but it indeed
add colorful impact to the town.
These are extra pics.
